Mon. Nov. 23rd.
Today was the last day to submit your Hamlet Essay (without late penalties).
We also began our debate unit. Today, we started with impromptu speeches. Students chose a topic (at random) and attempted to talk about it for 1.5 minutes. As everyone did this, we pointed out things that can be improved, or things that enhanced your delivery.

Tues. Nov. 24th
Today we added a layer to our impromptu speeches... You were to pick three things to link (person, place, thing). Some of these were very random and seemingly unrelated. Again, we looked at areas we could improve and strengths in our delivery.

Weds. Nov. 25th
Today we learned just how structured a debate is and what the elements are. We watched the first video and took notes on a given handout.
After that, we looked at two episodes of CBC's The Debaters. These were comical, but also showed us (somewhat) the structure of a debate.
